about tilt

TILT was created by a special group from the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies. TILT is guided by a proud, queer parent who wanted to celebrate their rad queer kid - but now is in the fight of a lifetime. We want to fight for and celebrate you too! TILT is for your kid, your students, your cool aunt, and your big gay dad. It is for all of us - allies too. We believe everyone deserves to feel safe and accepted. Visibility is key and Queerness includes liberation for ALL!

Based in Florida, we are mobilizing against 18 extremely hateful anti-trans & gender non-confirming bills that are moving their way through our legislation, along with many other racist and fascist power moves by one of the evilest governors in our country.

With what we are up against, please consider your purchase a donation! Wear us proudly! They will not erase us because love always wins! We have created purpose-driven merch and designs that promote inclusivity and support, with a dash of rage. TILT is a tool for the movement. Thank you for being a part of it!

The Florida Coalition for Trans Liberation has made it very easy to write our Florida representatives to oppose the laws that directly affect us at TILT. Please visit their page and scroll down to “Take Action.” They have an email written out for you to personalize and send.

ALLY IS A VERB

Being an ally is about taking ACTION!

If you truly love your queer fam, you are eventually going to have to vote, march, protest, rage, or just educate someone and let them know they said something hurtful.

Listen

Listen to the experiences and concerns of LGBTQIA+ individuals without judgment, and be respectful of their identities, pronouns, and preferred names.

Contact Your Representative

The people you elect are supposed to listen to you, so let’s give it a try. Contact your local and state representatives and tell them you do not support these anti-trans laws and that if they vote yes on them they will not be reelected! Click here to find your local representative.

Accept Feedback

The art of accepting feedback (getting called out) is no easy task. Practice not being defensive. If you are doing the work, educating yourself, and listening more, you will eventually be grateful when someone points out that you have said something hurtful. We all make mistakes as we build a new, more inclusive world. If you are not making mistakes, you are not doing the work.

Educate yourself

Support LGBTQIA+ Communities

There are many Queer organizations and people in your area that could use a hand or a dollar. With trans-affirming care being outlawed throughout the country, many people will be looking for ways to afford their care and surgeries. There are many trans folks on crowdfunding sites looking for financial support. Donating is an excellent way to help. If you need help finding someone to help, let us know.

Speak up

Silence = Violence

Silence in the face of hurtful actions or
words is no longer an option - including
in our Congress.

Know Your Rights

There are nearly 500 anti-trans bills in the United States, with 23 already passed. People in your city are fighting back, and there are many ways to get involved.

Whether you call your representatives from home or join protests in the streets, make sure to KNOW YOUR RIGHTS before taking action.

By supporting TILT, you're also supporting our lovely queer community in south Florida. We have established a land trust and sanctuary housing, and we provide assistance for undocumented and incarcerated individuals. Our community gardens and food distributions help feed those in need, and we even provide meals for the homeless three times a week through Food Not Bombs. We take pride in our many initiatives to support marginalized groups.

HELLO THERE!

Raising a queer child in Florida is challenging, especially with the political climate putting trans kids across the US and beyond at risk. TILT aims to shift the perspectives of those who do not understand our most marginalized communities, and to create a supportive environment where parents, teachers, and allies can learn and grow alongside us.

TILT is forever and always supporting our queer youth around town. One way we do so is by sending them, including my own kid, to summer camp where they have the opportunity to bond with others and foster meaningful connections.

Thank you so much for supporting our journey.
